Letters to the editor: Israeli’s war in Gaza is antisemitic; views of faculty do not represent CU; we are a part of humanity; a vote for Trump is a vote for peace

I am proud of all Apartheid-fighting nonviolent Jews, for example, the wonderful activists in the "Jewish Voice for Peace," as they vociferously resist the Israeli weaponization of "antisemitism" to justify a potential genocide. I am thankful for their moral voice, saying to Israel: "NOT in our names."

Israeli’s brutal war in Gaza is antisemitic I read with immense delight and fully agree with the Sunday Sept. 15 guest opinion by a fellow Boulder resident (and tireless Muslim peace and human rights activist), Mr. Moji Agha, entitled: “Enough is enough, Israel must end war in Gaza.

” I fully share his moral outrage at the deeply antisemitic conduct of the Israeli government, in its ongoing settler-colonial genocide against Palestinians. Why do I believe such horrible Israeli war crimes are profoundly antisemitic? Because the immoral settler-Zionist Israeli ethnic cleansing (and physical and cultural genocide) in Palestine is being done in the name of “Judaism” and of “creating a safe home for Jews.” This is while the central objective of all antisemites throughout history (including Hitler) has been to “prove” that “Jews are evil.

” Thus, I am proud of all Apartheid-fighting nonviolent Jews, for example, the wonderful activists in the “Jewish Voice for Peace,” as they vociferously resist the Israeli weaponization of “antisemitism” (and especially the horrors of the Holocaust) to justify a “Jewish” genocide. I am thankful for their moral voice, saying to Israel: “NOT in our names.” So, although as an 86-year-old white-privileged skeptic I don’t believe in the existence of the Abrahamic “God,” I say to Moji Agha and other morally awake Jewish and Islamic lovers of peace and justice: God Bless your nonviolent resistance to the immorality of Zionist antisemitism! John Russell, Boulder Views of faculty, students do not necessarily represent CU Re: “Freedom of Expression.

Regents delay decision on policy change” from Sept. 13. Perhaps the CU Regents would be better served by making a statement that the views expressed by their faculty, students and staff do not necessarily represent those of the University.

The Regents would then be free to express their own positions regarding CU policy if they so chose. Ruth Hamann, Lafayette We are a part of and not apart from humanity “Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.” Those words were written by an author who knew the importance of speaking up, of speaking out, and of writing it down.

His name was James Baldwin. I urge that the Boulder City Council join other City Councils, across our nation, in calling for a lasting Israel-Gaza ceasefire. We need to speak up.

We need to speak out. War is a local issue. We are a part of and not apart from the rest of humanity.

Let’s face our responsibility. Kristen Marshall, Boulder A vote for President Trump is a vote for peace The term “neocon” describes warmongers such as George Bush and Dick Cheney who relish using American power to pursue an ever-expanding American empire through eternal war. No one deserves that term more than Dick Cheney and his protégé Victoria Nuland.

So, how did Kamala Harris earn the recent endorsement of Dick and Liz Cheney and why did Nuland quickly re-join the Biden-Harris administration after leaving shortly after President Trump’s inauguration? I think the clear answer is because Kamala Harris embraces neocon foreign policy. What does that mean to you? It means that we are at great risk that a Harris administration will take dangerous, escalatory actions such as green-lighting Ukraine’s use of our long-range weapons to target Russia. Actions like this could easily escalate our proxy war into a direct war that would result in our children being drafted to fight and die over where the Russia / Ukraine border is and could even turn Boulder into Gomorrah.

Yes, Donald Trump is a jerk, but he is also for peace. Your vote for President Trump is a vote for peace. Brent Bickel, Broomfield.
