Jeff Landry and his actions to remove the unhoused community from their encampments, seemingly to present a more favorable image during high-profile events. This decision undermines the efforts our community has made to support and uplift those in need. Landry identifies himself as a Christian.

I find it troubling that this approach prioritizes appearances over compassion. The teachings of Christianity emphasize love, kindness and service to the marginalized. Hiding our unhoused neighbors does not align with these values.

Instead, it exacerbates their struggles and diminishes our community's integrity. I urged the governor to focus on genuine solutions that provide support and dignity to our unhoused population. True leadership reflects our commitment to all citizens, especially the most vulnerable among us.
