LETTERS: Polis playing politics; blue state governors

Polis playing politics

Jared Polis, our chameleon of a governor, is at it again. For the past several years, Polis has been an aggressive, Trump-hating Democrat who recently joined Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker to form an anti-Trump coalition.

Polis, who not long ago ignored concerns about the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua aggressively taking over apartment buildings in Aurora, certainly knows how to play politics better than anyone in our state. This past week, we witnessed his political performing firsthand when he decided to be an outspoken Robert F. Kennedy supporter in an attempt to seem like he wants to protect children .

.. unless they live in Aurora.

Polis sticks his finger in the political wind, trying to uphold his bipolar and weird political stance he has maintained throughout his time in office. Anyone that’s followed his career knows he has his eyes set on something far bigger than Colorado, meaning he must be on both sides of every issue to be able to one day have a salient chance at the big ticket. In a continued attempt to be “pro child”, Polis has stated he is pro school choice, yet he supports huge unions and maniacal control of school systems.

He is also one of the leading, radical governors in the country who support abortion up to the point of birth and encourages gender-affirming care for minors. How is any of that pro child? Polis was also a huge player in the Rocky Mountain heist, where wealthy donors, such as Polis, helped Colorado transform from a Republican stronghold to a deep blue, liberal state over the last decade. Today, Colorado no longer even remotely resembles the freedom-loving state I brought my family to 30 years ago and has since morphed into a Rocky Mountain version of California.

Is this really what most of us in Colorado wanted? I don’t believe it is. It’s time for Colorado to break the shackles of the far-left vise this governor has placed on us, to get back in the game nationally, and for us to speak up about the prominent issues of the day and realize we have been sold a total bill of goods by this ever-changing career politician. So, here’s three things we should all be doing, beginning yesterday: First, realize this guy has done nothing but push us off a political cliff from a business perspective, particularly now with a national Republican administration putting Colorado in the cross hairs.

This might include a Space Force HQ relocation from Colorado Springs. A crisis by any measure. Secondly, do everything we can to inform those around us that Polis is not what he pretends to be.

And third, let’s take back some of this lost ground. We must push to no longer allow Denver to be a sanctuary city, for late-term abortions to be illegal in Colorado, and to protect our youth from traumatic transitional surgeries. Although many say they are done with the radical ideologies of this state and are fleeing to more conservative options, me and my house will not be running from the action.

Instead, we are going to stand and fight to regain the ground Polis, and other extremists, stole from us. For any Coloradan wanting to leave, give this great state one last chance. We have begun to see that the masses want to make American great again, so there is truly hope that Colorado, too, can be made great once again.

Robert Blaha Colorado Springs Governor Jared Polis has sided with JB Pritzker and other blue state governors to fight against Trump’s deportation of TDA gang members and the rest of the thousands of criminals Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have allowed to trespass our border. Thanks, Jared! Now at least the law-abiding citizens of Colorado know whose side you are on. Robert Bee Colorado Springs After reading the article in the Wednesday paper about the Downtown Authority in Old Colorado City moves ahead, it is important to inform not only The Gazette but everyone else about the amount of misinformation.

Specifically, about who voted and those not given the opportunity to vote. I have a business in Old Colorado City and also own property in it. Neither my business nor the properties I own received a ballot.

It appears they limited the vote only to people whose voting address was in the area involved. Most of the property owners were excluded because they do not live in the commercial buildings or use that address to vote. Residents in the area might own their property, but many are tenants.

Likewise many businesses are tenants and not owners but the mill levies will be on the owners — not the tenants. It might be a moot point because the measure did not pass but the voting process should be labeled illegal since many of those voting are not the ones paying the mill levy. I hope (implore) The Gazette will investigate.

I love Old Colorado City and have been involved here for many years. I feel like this ‘Downtown Authority’ is not being above board, and misinformation is abundant and misleading. Most property owners did not get to vote! It is taxation without representation! It is sad that the trust is broken before it even gets off the ground.
