First, hiring an outside firm shifts responsibility for solutions to others outside of the agency.

Second, it deflects accountability of the school district parties who committed the error to begin with. Finally, it allows the agency leadership to get the bad situation off the news cycle. Now all answers can simply be: "We have an outside firm working on that.

" It is a win-win for them. However, the losers are the students, parents and taxpayers of our great state. Schools are operating with shortfalls in funding, minimal if any accountability and meanwhile have more money to spend than we have.
