Article content Re: ‘Alberta puts $2M towards planning for Edmonton hospital capacity increase’ (March 13). A new hospital has just become a dream for Edmontonians, despite the fact that we are a resource-rich province, we are still running after some band-aid solutions. New land is quickly allocated for new neighbourhoods by our municipal bosses but no consideration has been given to building a hospital quickly for which a large sum of money was already spent since the NDP government initiated it and then it was shelved due to a ‘flawed study’ or something.

In fact, it should been completed and operational by now. This is incomprehensible to many of us who have been dealing with flawed policies of political leaders for decades. Have any of the policy planners visited the surrounding areas of Grey Nuns and Misericordia hospitals, have we looked at the already overcrowded parking lots, the hospital itself and the situation of public transport around these buildings? Is this a serious attempt to give some relief to the sick or just a diversion? Park it Jeez Louise, I sound like a broken record because I have been trying to hold the province to its promise for the last 40 YEARS to build a hospital in Sherwood Park! A few years ago they built a glorified walk-in clinic, consisting of an emergency room and a diagnostics department that only works on Friday when they can get staff from other places to come out.

Strathcona County is the fourth-largest municipality in Alberta and we don’t have a hospital! This is insane. We need patient beds, a maternity ward, and operating rooms, for God’s sake. If we had had that years ago then they wouldn’t be scrambling for more hospital space now.

Live up to your promises and responsibilities! Just do it! Brainless The human brain is an amazing organ. It keeps working 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 52 weeks a year..
