Letters February 27, 2025: 'Looking to one of the literary greats for tips.'

Some philosophy I was listening to Pierre Poilievre the other day voicing some disdain for the woke movement. Then it brought to mind Justin Trudeau‘s advocacy for the woke movement. It brought to mind a little quote from Dostoevsky.

He said, “Tolerance will reach such a level that intelligent people will be banned from thinking so as not to offend the imbeciles.” I hope it will never come to this, but it sure looks like we’re moving in that direction. Val Weber (The sad reality is the ‘imbeciles’ get offended no matter what.

) Keep it simple Reciprocal tariffs. No one seems to be talking about reciprocal tariffs except Trump. So what does reciprocal tariffs mean? If each country charges the other zero tariffs does that mean there are no tariffs at all and goods and services flow freely across borders? Would that end the tariff wars? Too simplistic? Jerry Burton (If only it were that simple) All about the resources I believe when President Trump refers to Canada as the 51st state, Trump doesn’t mean southern Ontario, Quebec, and Atlantic Canada with the possible exception of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Trump means the resource rich areas of Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, northern Ontario, the interior of British Columbia, and the Territories. Trump can see that if the Liberals run against him in the voter rich area of the so-called Golden Triangle and if the Liberals somehow manage to win the election it’ll stoke the fires of Western alienation and there’ll be louder calls for secession from the Canadian Confederation. The Laurentien Elite are offering western Canadians Net-Zero Carney and Trump is offering Western Canadians a chance to get their product to market and to prosper.

Trump’s call to revive the Keystone XL pipeline is a direct challenge to the verdant Liberals. Trump knows the Liberals will never approve a revived Keystone XL and what choice does that leave Alberta. Jeffrey Anderson (We wouldn’t mind the electricity, manufacturing and natural resources Eastern Canada has.

As a whole, Canada is very rich.) Trudeau’s legacy I would like to sum up Justin Trudeau’s disgusting Legacy in 3 words: Gluttony Thriftlessness Irresponsible Chris Robertson (We could think of a few more.).
