I recently traveled to Gettysburg, where I walked the fields where so much horror was experienced by so many in those three July days of 1863. I looked over the cemetery where Abraham Lincoln spoke in November of that same year and read over his solemn but succinct address that best describes our democracy. That Sunday of my visit, I went to the Visitor Center, where at 10:30 a.

m. hardly a parking spot was available due to the hundreds of Americans visiting that day. Cars from all over America occupied the filled six lots.
