The fact that the U.S. has no limit for how old its president can be is something that desperately needs to change.
The past two U.S. presidents have been the two oldest in history, and it’s now become apparent that an age limit needs to be initiated.
It’s been shown that both dexterity and mobility decrease with old age. For example, President Joe Biden during a press conference incoherently muttered while forgetting what he was talking about mid-sentence. His deteriorating memory has also been clear in quite a few other instances.
Some may argue that with age comes experience, an important quality for any leader. However, having experience shouldn’t be something considered equivalent to staying up to date on domestic and international issues. In fact, with older age, people are much less likely to fully understand or be involved with what’s going on in the world because it is no longer their future they’re trying to shape.

This will help to largely prevent hazy-minded people from taking on a position holding such heavy responsibility. Without more elderly citizens taking a position in office, politics will see a much clearer, conversant voice for generations to come.

Letter: U.S. needs to set an age limit on U.S. presidents
This will help to largely prevent hazy-minded people from taking on a position holding such heavy responsibility, says Tulsa resident McCartney Hartzell.
