A group of families in the Winlock area has created an LLC, Sacred Heart Preservation Foundation, to buy, rescue and restore the historic Catholic church formerly known as Sacred Heart Church in downtown Winlock. The church was originally financed by residents and business owners of Winlock, completed in 1908 and ministered to by Franciscan priests. The sale closes next week, and the fundraiser is ongoing.

Any funds received above and beyond the purchase price will be used for a roof fund, and to renovate and beautify the interior. The primary tenant of the building will be Saint Kateri Byzantine Outreach and Holy Family-In-Exile Homeschool Resource Center. Eastern Catholic Divine Liturgy (Holy Mass) will be celebrated weekly on Sundays beginning Nov.

17 at 1 p.m. by the Eastern Catholic priests from St.

George Byzantine Parish in Lacey. The greater community is most welcome to pray with us, and all practicing Catholics and orthodox are welcome to receive our sacraments. A potluck will follow weekly.
