I would like to respond to the article in Sunday morning’s paper regarding the Hands Off protest at the Capitol on Saturday. My husband and I participated in the protest and were encouraged at the participation of so many people who were willing to stand up and make their voices heard. This was democracy in action.
The entire block on both sides of K Street was packed with people. Many held signs expressing their concerns about the actions the Trump and Musk administration are executing, negatively affecting millions of Americans. Hundreds of cars passed, honking with thumbs-up expressing their support of the protest.
Reading the article buried in the paper did not reflect how successful the rally was. The article did, however, cite the AP and report a statement from the White House that Trump would always protect the things he is actually cutting and that the “Democrats' stance” is giving these “benefits to illegal aliens which will bankrupt these programs and crush American seniors." People are also reading.
.. I see no relevance to repeating these lies.
If deemed necessary, the article should also reference that all their claims have been debunked. As Sen. Cory Booker stated, “This is a moral moment.
It’s not left or right. It’s right or wrong.” Truth and honesty matter.
So if this news article is about the protest, let’s stick with the facts and the truth, and not entangle the lies of irrelevant people whose mission is to create and disperse their own false reality.
