Letter: Sen. Dave Rader of District 39 serves with honor, votes pro-life

Rader’s integrity, sincerity and decency have long made him one of the most admired leaders in Tulsa, says Tony Lauinger, state chairman of Oklahomans for Life.

Sen. Dave Rader is one of the most honorable people I’ve ever known. I first met him in the 1980s when he was the University of Tulsa's head football coach.

Our second-grade son wanted to attend Rader’s football camp, but he was a year younger than the published age. Rader said, “Sure, he can come,” and our son had a great experience. He has always had a heart for kids.

A longtime friendship followed. Rader’s integrity, sincerity and decency have long made him one of the most admired leaders in Tulsa. I was stunned by the duplicity of a television ad this week attacking Rader as he runs for reelection in Senate District 39 for his final term.

The false, malicious, scurrilous ad from a group called Campaign Technology Professionals calls a bill co-sponsored by 22 senators “extreme” on abortion, with “no exceptions for rape or incest.” People are also reading..

.” The ad claims that “women in life-threatening situations are being denied care.” To the extent that’s happening, it’s because the abortion industry distorts the truth and misleads health professionals for political gain.

Incendiary rhetoric is more important to them than women’s health or babies lives. Editor's Note: Lauinger is state chairman of Oklahomans for Life. Letters to the editor are encouraged.
