Letter: Love God and others as yourself

I am hoping everyone will realize folks calling themselves Christian Nationalists can sing a good tune, but their actions send a much different message, says Broken Arrow resident Mike Howe.

When I was growing up in Oklahoma, my family taught me that actions speak louder than words. Whether conservative or liberal, I have always thought that Oklahomans value their neighbors and live by the rule: Help your neighbor when in need. It is so disturbing to me that there are Christian Nationalists in Oklahoma trying to push their agenda onto our public schools.

For the sake of argument, let me share a Bible verse for all those folks who support former President and current Republican presidential candidates Donald Trump, State Superintendent Ryan Walters and others like them. James 2:14-18: "What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them: 'Go in peace, keep warm and well fed,' but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

But someone with say, ‘You have faith; I have deeds.’ Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds." People are also reading.
