Letter: Karen Keith will govern by being a uniter

What is important is that in office a candidate will represent all of their constituents, Karen Keith does that, says former Tulsan Keith Bailey, now of Saratoga, Wyoming.

I am no longer a resident of Oklahoma after spending most of career there. I do, however, try to keep up with what is going on there by following the local news. Recent events have prompted me to write this letter.

I have known Karen Keith for a long time. We first met when she was still pursuing her television career. Subsequently I have worked closely with her when Mayor Bill LaFortune asked me to serve on a committee to consider privatizing the Tulsa Zoo.

Keith was his representative on that committee. Over the years we worked on United Way campaigns together and, at one time, she led the public sector campaign division. We worked together to promote the early vision for what has successfully be completed as Zink Lake.

Most recently we have shared membership in the Downtown Rotary Club where she has also held leadership positions. I give this background as it was not until this current nonpartisan election that I learned Keith was a Democrat. To me, the party of a candidate is not the most important reason to vote for them.

She is a unifier, not a divider. She also doesn’t start running for the next election before taking office in the current one.

She lets her actions while in office speak for themselves. Given her proven performance I believe Keith should be the next mayor of Tulsa. Letters to the editor are encouraged.
