Hamas’ attack on Israel and its taking and holding of Israeli hostages, was deeply wrong. But two wrongs do not make anything right, says Larry Knoles of Eucha.

Expressions of disapproval of the actions and policies of the state of Israel on college campuses and everywhere else do not constitute anti-Semitism. They are not an attack on all Jewish people. There are powerful reasons to criticize the actions of the state of Israel and its political leadership about the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

Although real anti-Semites will do what anti-Semites always do, most critics of Israel’s actions only want the slaughter and destruction in Gaza to stop. Many Israeli citizens disapprove of the actions of their own government in Gaza, and many Palestinian people disapprove of the actions of Hamas. It is wrong to judge all members of either community by the actions of their worst members.
