In her recent letter Lucy Cooke said that as someone who is a former Bernie Sanders supporter, that she is glad that Donald Trump won the election. She said that the 71 million people including myself who voted for Kamala Harris are “mindless killers.” She decries the killing of innocent civilians by Israeli forces in Gaza, but defends Russia and has written in support of Hamas’ attack on Israel.
As I said, as someone who has long opposed the Israeli occupation and the settlements in the West Bank, the killing by Israeli forces of 40,000 and counting people in Gaza, that anybody who defends and commends Hamas for what they did is antisemitic. Donald Trump said that he will tell Israel’s Bibi Netanyahu to “finish the job” and Lucy Cooke is happy with the result of the election. Kamala Harris was and is for a ceasefire.
She very passionately stated that she is appalled at all of the bloodshed, and I believe that had she been elected that she would have worked hard for a ceasefire, a two-state solution and peace. — Walter Ballin, Columbia, MD.
