I knew this was going to happen. Thanks to our supervisors and Greene Arc, the residents of Cumberland Township have been able to recycle for many years. Each time I went to do so, it was obvious that people were not complying with the request of Arc to limit their material to certain plastic, metal cans, newspaper and cardboard because I would find many non-recyclable items dumped in the bins.

I knew the Arc staff would then be responsible for disposing of these items and that was not their job. The selfishness of people to dump these items made me mad because I thought that one day Arc would say “enough.” That day has come.

Those who believe in “let someone else” do the work have ruined a valuable environmental resource for our communities. It’s just sad how we humans can always manage to foul up a good thing. Bob Willison Rices Landing.
