I found the Sept. 8 letter, " Republic threat " interesting, particularly the statement that "no thoughtful American today can deny that Donald Trump is a clear and present threat to democracy." I am a very thoughtful American who has voted in all major elections since President Lyndon Johnson's election in 1964, and I have to disagree with the writer.
Our country is not in better shape than four years ago. A recent Tulsa World story stated that consumer prices rose only 2.5% in August.
Tell that to your budget when grocery shopping or buying an appliance or major purchase of any kind. Another recent article stated the average cost of everything is up 20%. August may be up only 2.
5%, but we have seen increases month-on-month for the last four years. It has wrecked havoc with budgets for families when the final price increases hit home. People are also reading.
