When I learned about Charles Sehe's passing at 101 years young, I sent his daughter, Isabel, a sympathy card. She wrote a note back to me that she didn't have a copy of Legacies of the Silver State: Nevada Goes to War. I wrote a note in the book and sent it to her.
On Saturday, Nov. 23, I received Isabel's thank you note. "Dear Ken, Thank you for your kind words and condolences.
We are grateful for your support for our father. The trip to Nevada (in 2015) meant a lot to him. Thank you for the copy of Legacies of the Silver State, honoring our father on page 47 and the rest of the Nevada veterans.
God bless you, Isabel & Family" Charles spent his 18th, 19th, 20th, 21st and 22nd birthday aboard the USS Nevada. He referred to the ship fondly as if it was his parents. He was aboard the ship when she earned each of her seven battle stars during World War II.
In 2015, Charles became Carson City's oldest adopted son! Ken Beaton Carson City.
