More info Hip hop legend LL Cool J has revealed his unexpected admiration for Gardeners' World host Monty Don - even asking the presenter for a selfie when they crossed paths behind the scenes at BBC Breakfast this weekend.
According to fellow BBC presenter Nina Warhurst, 'Paradise' rapper and his crew couldn't resist approaching Monty, who has become quite popular in the US following his American Gardens series in 2020. LL Cool J, who recently made a comeback to music after an 11-year break, was on BBC Breakfast to discuss his new album, The Forge. And Nina spilled the beans about the unlikely encounter in the Salford offices, sharing that she overheard LL Cool J - whose real name is James Todd Smith - and his entourage expressing their fandom for Monty and requesting a selfie.
She quipped: "This is why the @BBCBreakfast office is the best office." Laci Simon, LL's makeup artist, also expressed her excitement about meeting "Britain's favourite gardener", thanking LL Cool J for making it possible. Viewers were equally thrilled with the hip hop star's appearance on the show, praising his positive energy as he explained the meaning of The Force to hosts Sally Nugent and Ben Thompson.

" The rap legend was still buzzing from his appearance at the previous night's MTV Europe Music Awards in Manchester. Meanwhile, in the world of green thumbs, Monty Don has a tail-wagging surprise planned for his first-ever show garden at next year's RHS Chelsea Flower Show. He's calling it a dog-friendly paradise, and insists it’ll be a unique spectacle: "This is something that I have no intention of repeating, it's a one-off and we hope and believe that it will be truly spectacular," the Gardeners' World host asserts, promising a space free of "cluttered messages, symbolisms or metaphors".
