The No. 17 Colorado Buffaloes have proven their doubters wrong this season, silencing critics who had been vocal about their struggles last year and the overwhelming media attention surrounding their rise. Under head coach Deion Sanders , after a 4-8 campaign in his first season, the program has completely transformed, and now, after a dominant 49-24 win over the Utah Utes on Saturday, they sit with a stout 8-2 record and find themselves firmly in the race for a College Football Playoff berth and the Big 12 championship.

Much of the success can be attributed to the continued stellar performances from key players like Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders, who have been instrumental in pushing the Buffaloes toward success. While the hype initially centered on the two, it’s the team Coach Prime has built around them that is making the biggest difference. The defense, often seen as a liability last season, has notably improved, and Colorado has become a more complete team.

Following the big-time win, NBA superstar and future Hall of Famer LeBron James had a message for the Colorado Buffaloes and all of their critics over the last few months. "I don’t hear non of those @CUBuffsFootball @DeionSanders HATERS being up front and loud!" James said. "They’re in hiding now! Coach Prime said “We Coming”.

Well it’s “We Here” now. Love what’s going on there in Boulder." I don’t hear non of those @CUBuffsFootball @DeionSanders HATERS being up front and loud! They’re in hiding 🫣 now! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.

🦬🫡 Now, with just two games remaining in the regular season, the Buffaloes have a clear path to the Big 12 Championship. If they can win out, they’ll likely face the No. 6 BYU Cougars , who will be tested on Saturday night against the Kansas Jayhawks.

What Deion Sanders has accomplished in such a short amount of time at Colorado is truly remarkable. When he arrived, the Buffaloes were coming off a 1-11 season, and the program was in disarray. Fast forward to this year, and the Buffaloes have already surpassed the six-win mark, making them bowl eligible for the first time since 2020.

This is a program that hasn’t won a bowl game since 2004, so to be in the position they’re in now—on the verge of a possible Big 12 Championship—is a testament to Sanders’ leadership and vision. Beyond just the wins, Sanders has completely transformed the culture at Colorado. He’s developed a team that plays with confidence and swagger, led by two of the most dynamic NFL prospects in the country with Hunter and Sanders.

It’s an incredible journey unfolding in front of the eyes of college football fans nationwide, and one that could be just the beginning of something truly special under Deion Sanders’ leadership.
