The League of Women Voters of Larimer County plans a panel presentation Monday, April 14, on the Impacts of Medicaid cuts on local health-care services. In a news release, the group said cuts to federal Medicaid funding will have a significant impact on the local community, noting Medicaid is needed to sustain hospitals, safety-net clinics, community behavioral health care providers and rural providers. The panel discussion will be held via Zoom at 6:30-8 p.

m. Panel presenters include Adam Fox, deputy director of Colorado Consumer Health Initiative (CCHI); Cyndi Dodds, interim chief executive officer of SummitStone Health Partners; Dr. Bernard Birnbaum, associate residency director at Fort Collins Family Medicine Residency and member of the Larimer County Board of Health.

Additionally, a Medicaid recipient will share insights about his experience with health care for himself and his family. CCHI will provide an overview of the Colorado budget and how shortfalls may impact Medicaid recipients and local health care providers. Panel presenters will discuss the impact on access to primary health care, behavioral health care, and the impact on public health.

The release said CCHI data shows that Medicaid/CHP+ affects 1.2 million Coloradans, including older adults, people living with disabilities, family care providers, children, pregnant people and families. A question and answer period will follow.
