The couple, residing in Moshi, parked illegally in the Deccan area, leading to their vehicles being towed. PUNE: Shivajinagar police on Friday registered a case of obstructing a public servant in the discharge of public functions and forgery after a lawyer and his wife created a ruckus in the Deccan Traffic Division 's office. Their two-wheelers were towed to the traffic division's office around 4 pm on Thursday.
Later, it was revealed that the lawyer put up a fake and fabricated registration number plate on his motorcycle. Assistant Inspector Rajendra Kendre of Shivajinagar police told TOI, "The lawyer is a resident of Moshi in Pimpri. The two came to the Deccan area for some personal work and parked their vehicles in the no-parking area, which were picked up by the traffic police.
" "The lawyer's motorcycle has a pending fine of over Rs 9000," he said. Kendre added, "The lawyer put the fake number plate on his vehicle to avert seizure of the two-wheeler by the officials of a private bank after he failed to pay the EMIs." "The traffic police picked up their vehicles and towed the two vehicles to the Deccan Traffic Division's office, and a fine was imposed," he said.
"The couple reached the traffic division's office and started arguing with the police personnel and refused to pay the pending fine. Initially, police allowed them to go with their vehicles after arguments, but later, police decided to check their registration numbers and found that it was a fake number. When police confronted them, they issued threats to the traffic police," Kendre said.
"The also caused traffic jam on the Modern College Road," he said. "Following this, the police decided to lodge a complaint against them," he said..
