To get your lawn looking its best this spring and summer, a gardening enthusiast has shared a 30-second task that will help-and it's "easy".

Lawn care will be on the minds of many gardeners right now as spring is in full force and summer is just months away. The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) has indicated that neatly trimmed grass borders not only enhance the beauty of your lawn but can also prevent grass from intruding into adjacent plant beds. With that in mind, gardener Bo Petterson has shared his “quick and easy” method to spruce up your lawn border “in 30 seconds” .

His tutorial showed TikTok users, whom he goes by @dadadvicefrombo , the secrets to achieving a perfectly straight edge between the lawn and the flower bed. To get started, all you need are some simple tools: a string length, a handful of spike nails, a tape measure, and a flat-head shovel. Begin by ensuring there’s an even gap between the turf and the soil at each end of the section you’re edging.

When you have decided on your markers, place the spike nails into the ground and tightly string them together to create a guide. Bo advised that if you lack spike nails, knitting needles or butter knives can serve as substitutes. Then, as you edge, maintain about an inch's distance from the string and use your shovel to remove any stray grass and soil.

He advised: “Start working your way down the string line, cutting the sod as you go.” He rounded off the advice with a personal message on TikTok : “Dads love lawns. Even if you don’t have a yard yet, save this for when you do because it's a quick and easy project to start off spring.

” Dads ?????? lawns. Even if you don’t have a yard yet, save this for when you do because it’s a quick and easy project to start off spring. Love, Dad To achieve a precise edge, simply “remove the sod and you'll be left with a nice straight line all the way down”, he advised.

A strimmer can also be employed to tidy up any stray blades of grass, after which you can “smooth everything out, and you're in business”. While some individuals prefer the neat appearance of a straight-edged lawn, others favour a more natural, curved look. For those who prefer the latter, utilising a flexible line marker such as a hosepipe, string, or rope can prove highly effective.

The Royal Horticultural Society suggests that any leftover grass can be added to a compost bin or stacked separately until it decomposes into soil. Enthusiasts expressed their delight at the straightforward technique, with one commenting: “That looks so good! Thank you for teaching us how to do this.” A second remarked: “I’m a landscape technician, and this is exactly how the pros do it!" Another suggested: "We need to do this and carve out new beds in our backyard.

” A further user recommended: “The easiest way to do lawn edging by far is to use a reciprocating saw. You could do that whole stretch in about a minute.” Lastly, a fifth user complimented: “Beautiful and sharp.

You have an amazing-looking lawn. I'll have to try this.”.
