Newport News’ Patrick Henry Mall is more than a place to purchase new clothes. With new eateries, it’s also a spot for a good meal. The Asian-themed iNoodle restaurant opened in September and offers a fusion of traditional and contemporary Chinese fare with fresh ingredients.

Located in the former Rice Restaurant, the menu includes Korean fried chicken, traditional dumplings, noodle soups and fried rice dishes, said Henry Lee, chief operations and marketing officer. “We’re all about creating a unique dining experience that blends traditional and contemporary noodle dishes. Our menu is full of freshly crafted noodles, vibrant flavors, and high-quality ingredients,” Lee said in an email.

“Along with our signature noodle dishes, we offer mouthwatering Xiao Long Bao (soup dumplings), crispy and flavorful Korean Fried Chicken Wings, and our refreshing Punched Lemon Tea — a zesty, hand-crafted drink that pairs perfectly with any meal.” The mall location will serve as the flagship location and was chosen because it is central to a diverse community of food lovers, he said. Frytopia also opened recently.

It is a unique way to enjoy gourmet french fries and tater tots in different varieties with assorted toppings and dipping sauces. In addition to the fries, it serves chicken wings and tenders, said owner Amit Sehgal, who also owns Auntie Anne’s Pretzels. Sehgal said the mall had an opening for a place to serve snack-style meals.

So, the business decided to showcase the most craved side item — fries — as a standalone snack. Sehgal chose the mall not just because a place presented itself, but also because customer traffic is good. “Patrick Henry Mall has made a very strong comeback in the last four years, and the mall traffic continues to improve,” he said.

“The tenant mix is attracting new guests every day.” Wayback Burgers is opening soon in the mall’s food court. Patrick Henry is the second mall location for the restaurant, said Eleni Finkelstein with Gregory FCA, a firm which handles public relations for the mall.

Headquartered in Cheshire, Connecticut, Wayback Burgers did not respond to repeated emails to answer questions. The website menu shows its classic burger as two beef patties, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, mustard and Heinz ketchup. Other options include the Carolina burger with cheese, cole slaw and chili and a Cheeeesy two patty burger with four slices of melted American cheese on a buttered bun.

The menu also includes plant-based burgers, hot dogs, fried chicken tenders and sandwiches, hand-dipped milkshakes and a variety of sides, including tater tots, cheese curds, fried pickles, fried onions and fries.
