Apple has officially added the last iPod nano and iPod shuffle models to its global obsolete products list, signalling the end of the iconic music player's era. The move affects the seventh-generation iPod nano and fourth-generation iPod shuffle, which received new colour options in 2015 before being discontinued entirely in 2017. A product is considered "obsolete" seven years after Apple stops distribution of it for sale.

This classification means these devices are no longer eligible for repairs at Apple Stores or Authorised Service Providers, with the sole exception of MacBook battery replacements for up to 10 years. iPhone 6 now also obsolete Alongside the iPods, Apple also relegated the iPhone 6 to obsolete status. The larger iPhone 6 Plus had already been classified as obsolete in April, but the smaller iPhone 6 remained available through resellers in select countries for longer, delaying its obsolescence until now.

12-inch MacBook and iPad 6th generation added to vintage list Additionally, Apple moved the 2017 model of the 12-inch MacBook and the sixth-generation iPad to its vintage products list. Devices enter this category five years after Apple ceases distribution. While vintage products may still be eligible for repairs, this depends on parts availability.
