1 2 Prayagraj: Prior to the start of Maha Kumbh, a laser show will be displayed on river Yamuna in Prayagraj. Preparations for the laser show have been accelerated. The entire system, consisting of numerous fountains and lights, has been installed in the middle of the Yamuna in front of Kalighat.
Upon completion, two shows of 20-minute duration each will be presented through the laser lights and colourful fountains. A control room has also been set up at ghat. The history of Maha Kumbh and Prayagraj will be depicted in the laser show.
Uttarakhand's litterateur Jeet Ram Bhatt has written the script for both shows. The show is being prepared after receiving approval of the script from principal secretary (tourism) Mukesh Meshram. According to the project manager, Rajesh Sharma, people will not have to pay any fee for the laser show.
By the first week of January, the show will start entertaining visitors. The agency constructing the project will maintain it for five years. Authorities have ensured proper seating arrangements for the people and a huge platform on the ghat is also ready.
The state govt has sanctioned a budget of over Rs 21 crores for the project. This show will be organised across a length of 80 metres. On Tuesday, TOI visited the site to get first-hand information pertaining to the project.
Earlier, the water laser shows launched on river waves in other cities of the state included Varanasi, Ayodhya and Chitrakoot. A separate platform will be placed behind the current setup of pipes, lights, and nozzles. There will be two projectors, four laser lights, and 12 sharpy lights (revolving lights that change colour and can be seen from a distance of a few kilometres).
These lasers and fountains will present the story related to the history of Prayagraj and Maha Kumbh. This laser show will be closed only during floods when the Ganga and the Yamuna are in spate during the monsoons, i.e.
, July, August, and September, to prevent damage to the installed equipment..
