The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has rescued four victims following a road accident on Monday evening. The agency’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed the rescue in a statement issued on Tuesday in Lagos.

The accident, which involved two buses, occurred on the Third Mainland Bridge, heading inward Oworo-Shoki, in the late hours of Monday. According to Oke-Osanyintolu, LASEMA received distress calls at 17:25 hours through the 767 and 112 toll-free emergency lines, prompting the activation of the emergency response team from the Command and Control Centre in Alausa, Ikeja. Upon arrival at the scene at 17:35 hours, the team found that a white Toyota coaster bus (Registration Number KJA-380-XV) had collided with a stationary Lagos State BRT (Registration Number AGL938-YD).

Four individuals, including the driver, sustained severe injuries, but there were no fatalities. LASEMA’s recovery team successfully extricated the trapped passengers.

The injured victims were treated on-site by the agency’s paramedics before being evacuated to nearby government hospitals for further care. The Toyota Coaster bus was towed to Iyana-Oworo and handed over to the police as the recovery operation was concluded..
