Residents in Las Vegas and surrounding areas should expect an active weather pattern to continue into next week, with shortwave troughs rolling through the region resulting in breezier conditions and seasonal temperatures. According to the National Weather Service Las Vegas , there's also a slight chance for isolated showers in northern Lincoln County and the eastern Sierra today and tomorrow. By next week, a "slightly more robust system" is expected to bring cooler temperatures and gusty winds to the area.

A wind advisory expired as scheduled at 8 am today, following gusty winds this morning in the Western Mojave Desert. The National Weather Service stated that we will remain "somewhat breezy across most of the region today." The Las Vegas Valley is forecast to experience shifting winds from southwesterly to northwest later in the morning before west-southwest gusts return in the late afternoon.

Looking ahead, from Monday to Friday, stronger and broader troughs are anticipated to move into the region which will likely bring a period of more widespread wind impacts and cooler temperatures. The National Weather Service expects the "best chances for impactful gusts over 40 mph" along the I-15 corridor, western Inyo County, and the southern Great Basin, with "probabilities are over 60%." However, precipitation chances during this time appear slim, with only the Sierra and southern Great Basin having more than a 20% chance of seeing any light rainfall or snow.

Winds will change direction and speed throughout the day. Harry Reid Airport will experience lower wind speeds in the afternoon, with gusts around 20 knots becoming less frequent by evening. In northwest Arizona and southeast California, winds will vary, with KDAG expected to have gusts from the west at 25 to 35 knots all day, as reported by the National Weather Service .

Lastly, the National Weather Service encourages spotters to report any significant weather or impacts according to standard operating procedures. An active weather pattern, while not always convenient, can serve as an important reminder of the dynamic world we inhabit.
