Larry A. Duell, 79, passed away peacefully Friday evening, March 7, 2025, at Glens Falls Hospital, after spending the day with his family. He had a strong faith in Jesus and was ready to spend eternity in heaven.
Born on February 6, 1946, in Corinth, he was the son of the late Alonzo F. and Helen I (Smith) Duell. He was a graduate of Corinth High School.
He loved his country, served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, and was honorably discharged in 1968. He loved talking about his reconnaissance work in the Army. He worked at International Paper Company in Corinth for 42 years, retiring as power plant foreman.
He was a member of the Quarter Century Club of the mill. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing golf, pool, and darts. He was competitive and loved to joke around.
He had special nicknames for his family and friends and his nickname was “Yupper”. He would say “yupper” instead of “yes” and “toodles” instead of “goodbye”. He enjoyed his last couple of years at Holbrook Adult Home playing ring toss and trivia.
He loved taking car rides through the upstate New York countryside. He is survived by his daughters, Kimberly (Brian) Cummings of Tampa, Fla. and Danielle Ryerson of Queensbury; granddaughter, Ashley “Gracie” Cummings; two brothers, Allen “Jim” (Helen) Duell of Corinth, Steven (Aurie Kelley) Duell of Porter Corners; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Brewer Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Church St., Lake Luzerne at a date and time to be announced.
