Large brush fire breaks out at busy San Jose intersection

Traffic was ‘heavily impacted’ by the blaze at Highway 101 and Tully Road.

SAN JOSE – Crews on Tuesday afternoon were battling a large vegetation fire at a busy San Jose intersection. The fire ignited around 3:20 p.m.

at northbound Highway 101 and Tully Road, the San Jose Fire Department said in a social media post. No evacuations have been ordered, but businesses in the area were asked to shelter in place. The fire has damaged a utility pole.



Traffic on Tully Road was “heavily impacted” by the blaze, according to the fire department. Motorists were encouraged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes. Check back for updates.
