University Avenue is closed as a part of the University Avenue Revitalization project. The intersection will be closed Dec. 2 -13, to allow the contractor to install new drainage infrastructure.
Detour routes will be marked for drivers and direct traffic along N. University Avenue, Edison Street, and Irene Street. The second closure is at the southbound exterior lane and shoulder along the 1100 block of Johnston Street.
The closure is scheduled to begin Dec. 2 and will remain in effect until Dec 20. "This closure is to facilitate work on the Downtown Drainage Inlet Replacement Project.
Southern Constructors will perform improvements to the drainage catch basin in the area," LCG said in a press release. Motorists are encouraged to use caution when traveling through the work zone, expect delays, and consider alternate routes..
