Hong Kong firefighters have been deployed to the New Territories after a landslide forced a road to close and damaged a lamppost, with authorities combing the area for anyone trapped beneath the rubble. The city on Sunday morning experienced heavy rainfall and thunderstorms under the influence of the departing Super Typhoon Yagi, which is slowly moving west-northwest across northern inland sections of Vietnam. The landslide in Hong Kong occurred at around 6am at a hillside near Sam Tam Lo on Bride’s Pool Road in Tai Po.

The Fire Services Department’s disaster response and rescue team rushed to the scene and brought life detectors to scan for anyone trapped beneath the rubble. No injuries have been reported as of Sunday afternoon. KMB’s 275R bus route was forced to suspend services after the landslide left rocks, sand and mud along the road and damaged a lamppost.
