Chennai Rains: Due to the heavy rainfall in the city, flyers landing at the Chennai Airport are facing major inconvenience from waterlogged roads and streets. Since public transport has become a challenge for the passengers, the Chennai Airport has organised a special bus service in collaboration with the Municipal Transport Corporation (MTC). Authorities stated that initiative aims to ensure passengers reach their destination without hassle.

"Due to the current heavy rains in Chennai and lack of call taxi services, the Chennai Airport has organised special bus services in collaboration with the Municipal Transport Corporation for the convenience of passengers. By providing reliable and safe transportation, passengers are ensured to reach their travel destination hassle-free even in adverse weather conditions. These buses will continue to run until normal services are fully restored.

The weather condition in Chennai, and several other parts of Tamil Nadu, has become extreme with the incessant rain lashing the city. The situation is likely to stay the same, owing to which, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Red Alert for October 17 and 18. It has advised residents to step outside the house only if it is necessary.

In some areas, people observed garbage floating in the flooded streets. Chennai Traffic Resumes on 16 Subways, Many Still ClosedSeveral subways and other crucial roads have filled with the rainwater, making it dangerous for commuters to ply. Following which, several routes were shut down.

As per a report by Times of India, traffic has resumed in almost 16 subways across the city. However, five other subways remain waterlogged and are still closed to vehicles.
