EXCLUSIVE : Laine Kline , Head of International Production at Amazon MGM Studios, is stepping down from his position at the end of this year, we can reveal. For the past 31⁄2 years, L.A.

-based Kline has had management and oversight of the production of all international movies and international scripted and unscripted series. That slate included Oscar-nominated Argentina 1985 , the hit Spanish feature Culpa Mía , the German scripted success Maxton Hall , and popular unscripted series LOL . He had management oversight of 69 executives in 12 countries, overseeing projects across 22 territories including India, Latin America, Asia, and Europe.



He most recently reported to Peter Oillataguerre, Head of Film Production. It’s not clear whether the role will be filled. Kline, who is said to be leaving to pursue other opportunities, said today: “Growing Amazon’s slate of global films and series over the past three plus years has been a challenge and a thrilling adventure.

I am proud of the remarkable work that our production team has accomplished with talented and hard-working creators in 22 countries around the world.” Prior to his run at Amazon MGM Studios, Kline was Head of Sony Pictures International Productions for five years, where he oversaw the entire division, and was at Fox and TWC before that. When the exec joined Amazon in 2021, he was reporting to Head of Worldwide Production and Post Tim Clawson, but the latter left the studio earlier this year after a five-year stint.

As recently revealed, veteran international TV executive and producer Rola Bauer also is leaving the studio after serving as Head of Pan-English scripted originals for the past two years. Kline’s departure makes it three high-ranking production execs to have left or be leaving Amazon this year..
