The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency has sealed a church and several businesses for contravening environmental laws in the state. The agency explained that the enforcement efforts, which saw the sealing of multiple establishments across various locations in the state, were in line with its commitment to protect residents across the state. This decisive action was taken in response to persistent noise pollution and other environmental violations that posed significant threats to public health and safety.

In a statement shared on the agency’s X handle on Friday, LASEPA General Manager, Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, listed the affected areas to include Akerele, Ayilara, Eric Moore, Adeniran Ogunsanya, Lawanson, Ijeshatedo, and Aguda, all within Surulere, Ojota, as well as Femi Okunu Road and Milverton Road in Ikoyi. According to him, the establishments sealed during the operation include Suya Spot, Club Crash, Tea & Coffee Spot, and Salt of Life Prayer Ministry.

Other affected properties include Esteem Royal Hotels, Paragon Hotels, Cord Hotels & Suites Ltd, House 36, Admax Hotel, C.C. Uche Aluminum Company, a construction site, Bakery and Milestone Apartment.

Ajayi, however, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to safeguarding the environment and well-being of Lagos residents. “Noise pollution and other environmental violations disrupt the peace and health of our communities. The enforcement action highlights LASEPA’s zero-tolerance stance against environmental violations and underscores our determination to uphold environmental laws,” he stated.

The LASEPA boss called on businesses and individuals to adhere to environmental regulations, emphasising that compliance is essential to creating a healthier and more sustainable Lagos for all.
