Credit Corporation (PNG) Limited announces the appointment of Lady Winifred Kamit as the Chairperson of the Credit Corporation Group of companies effective on the date of this announcement, following the retirement of Dr Albert Mellam. Dr Mellam was appointed to the Credit Corporation Board in August 2013 and was appointed Chairman in September 2022. In acknowledging his time on the Board, Dr Mellam said, “It has been a privilege to serve Credit Corporation PNG and to have played a part in the strategic development and growth of the Group.
“Celebrating the 45th anniversary of the Group and receiving approval from the Bank of PNG for Credit Corporation to become a commercial bank have been special highlights of my time on the Board. “It has been my pleasure to have worked with my past and present Board colleagues and Credit Corporation’s people since 2013. I am confident that the business is in safe hands for the next stage of its development.
” Lady Winifred Kamit was appointed to the Credit Corporation Board in March 2023. She has excellent governance qualifications and extensive knowledge of the financial services sector including banking regulation and legislation. She is a Senior Partner at Dentons PNG and sits on the Boards of Post Courier Limited and Brian Bell & Company Limited.
She has previously served on a number of Company Boards as a non-executive member including Australia and New Zealand Banking Group (PNG) Limited where she was also the Chair of the Board, Lihir Gold Limited/ Newcrest Mining Limited, Steamships Trading Co. Limited, and New Britain Palm Oil Limited. Lady Kamit said, “On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank Dr Mellam for his leadership and service to Credit Corporation as a non-executive Director and Chairman of the Group.
“He has made an enormous contribution to the development and performance of the Group, and we wish him all the best for his future. “I am looking forward to taking on the role of Chair and continuing Dr Mellam’s good work with the support of the Board and the Group’s leadership team.” Group Chief Executive Officer, Danny Robinson said, “Dr Mellam is a person of the highest integrity, and he has been an excellent leader for Credit Corporation’s Board.
“I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work closely with Dr Mellam and on behalf of the Group’s executive team and all of our people in Papua New Guinea and across the South Pacific, I wish him well for the future. I look forward to working closely with Lady Kamit as the new Chair towards achieving Credit Corporation’s strategic intent.”.
