Lady Eagles take Glenn 6-0

Good defense and four goals in the first half helped the visiting East Forsyth varsity girls soccer team claim a 6-0 Central Piedmont 4-A conference win over Glenn on April 2.“We did not give up any good chances to score,” Head Coach Jimmy Stansell said. “I know we won 6-0, but I thought Glenn played well defensively.

Minutes later, Emma Owens sent a ball past the Glenn defense and Summer Warren scored on a breakaway. Emma Owens scored the next goal off an assist from Addison Clouthier. Paige Mushinski scored the last goal of the first half on a free kick from about 25 yards out.

In the second half, Mushinski scored off an assist from Zoey West. West scored the last goal after stealing the ball from a defender and cruising in on a breakaway.East Forsyth (6-3-1, 3-1 CP 4-A) played a conference game against Reagan last night and was scheduled to host West Forsyth on Thursday at 7 p.

m. The game was scheduled for Monday but was rained out and rescheduled. West Forsyth (7-3-1, 5-0 CP 4-A) is in first place in the CP 4-A.

“We have not played them yet. They are quite good and they have most of their best players back from last year. They are very tight defensively and they capitalize.

We have to be disciplined and organized. If we do that, we have a good chance. We have played them four times in the last two years, and those were arguably the best games we have played,” Stansell said.
