The Osun State chapter of the Labour Party has disclosed its withdrawal from the Local Government election scheduled for Saturday, citing inadequate security arrangements by the State Independent Electoral Commission.Adebayo Bello, the State Chairman of the Party, made the disclosure on Friday in Osogbo, stressing that the Party’s decision was necessitated by the lack of adequate security measures to ensure a peaceful conduct of the poll.READ ALSO: Court Orders Conduct Of Osun LG Polls On Saturday Amid Insecurity Threat Bello called for the election to be postponed for one or two months to enable the commission to better prepare and resolve pending legal issues.

Oyebode Babalola, one of the party’s chairmanship candidates, echoed Bello’s concerns, stating that the party would not participate in the election due to security concerns.“Although, we are ready for the election, but we are not going to participate, due to security concern. We have seen some traces that the election might be disrupted tomorrow and we are not ready to put the lives of our people in jeopardy,” he said.
