According to her, with a shared vision and commitment, they can overcome any challenges that come their way towards making the Labour Party a beacon of hope for every Nigerian. Speaking in Abuja while inaugurating the party’s Caretaker Committee, she said, “As members of the Caretaker Committee, our mission is clear.

We are here to lay the groundwork for a party that can bring real change and relief to the suffering masses. Our task is temporary, but it is demanding.” She noted that rebuilding can be more difficult than starting from scratch, saying they must roll up their sleeves and get to work, as meetings may be called at short notice, but appealed for their understanding and cooperation.

The chairman solicited, “For those of us with the means, this is the time to step up and help. This is self-sacrifice, and I know many of you are committed to this cause. I didn’t expect to be named Chairman when I traveled to Abia, but I saw it as an honor and a call to serve, which is why I accepted.

” She explained that one of their first tasks must be reconciliation and called on them to reach out to all aggrieved members and bring them back into the fold. Usman reminded them, “We want to reposition the Labour Party to provide a strong and vibrant opposition because democracy cannot thrive without active oversight. “Our goal is not to stir trouble but to ensure that the government remains accountable and delivers on its promises to the Nigerian people.

Through constructive criticism, we can help ensure that Nigerians get a better deal.” According to her, their struggle is for the liberation of every Nigerian, their dream of a united, peaceful Nigeria, where people can travel freely without fear of kidnapping, where bandits no longer threaten their safety and where the economy is strong enough for every Nigerian to live well. “We envision a country where the youth are employed and where education is a priority, ensuring no child is left out of school.

“I firmly believe that under Labour Party leadership, these goals can be achieved, not in the distant future, but in our time,” she explained. She reminded them that they are on a rescue mission, not just for the Labour Party, but for democracy and the country, adding that the interest and attention the committee has generated extend beyond party lines, and if they do their work right, their party will be repositioned to give a shoulder to all dissatisfied, disenfranchised, and unhappy Nigerians to lean on. Therefore, she advised them that they must view the significant responsibility as a call to serve Nigerians, but that they have already been given a mandate and must recognize it as a major sacrifice, stressing that they are here to serve, meaning they have to practice what they preach.

She appealed, “I want to appeal to everyone not to have exaggerated expectations. This is pure sacrifice for the short period we have. We are setting aside everything to rebuild this party, and we are open to ideas from all corners.

“Each member must carry themselves with integrity. As we rebrand our party, we must be mindful that social media, particularly the new generation of ‘Obidients,’ is watching us closely. Therefore, our sacrifice must be absolute.
