Indian stand-up comedian and political satirist, Kunal Kamra has found himself in deep trouble after a recent show where he mocked current government and made jokes on Shiv Sena leader and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, among others. However, his roast on Shinde didn’t go down well with the Shiv Sena workers of the Shinde faction, who went on to file FIRs against his, demanding action and even vandalised The Habitat to a point that they decided to shut down. The 36-year-old comedian hasn’t appeared before the Mumbai Police on Saturday, despite being summoned for the third time. The MIDC police registered a case against him on March 24, after a complaint from Shiv Sena MLA Murji Patel.

Reportedly, the Zero FIR was subsequently transferred to the Khan police. Patel in his complaint, claimed that Kunal through his stand up comedy performance defamed Shinde and “incited hatred between political parties, harming the sentiments of both his party and its rivals.

The song didn’t go down well with many Shiv Sena workers of the Shinde faction, as he had called him a ‘traitor’ for separating from his own party. Despite backlash from political leaders, Kunal Kamra maintained that he wouldn’t be apologising for whatever he had said. “I don't fear this mob & I will not be hiding under my bed, waiting for this to die down,” a part of his statement read.
