‘Kumbh Fellows’ to assist devotees at Mela campus

Prayagraj: The state govt has decided to form a team of experts as ‘ Kumbh Fellows ' for the upcoming Maha Kumbh . The state govt has handed over this responsibility to Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT). MNNIT, in collaboration with Prayagraj Mela Authority , will select 55 ‘Kumbh Fellows' through a national examination to smoothly manage the grand event of Maha Kumbh.

For this, MNNIT will conduct a written examination in, which any interested candidate, aged between 22-27, can appear. The process of appointing these fellows will be completed by Oct. The state govt has approved a grant of Rs1.



57 crore for this project. Each of the 25 sectors of the mela area will have two such fellows who would work as a bridge between the administration and devotees. The assistant professor at MNNIT and director of the innovation and incubation hub MNNIT foundation, Anubhav Rawat, has been made the nodal officer of this fellowship programme to be implemented during Maha Kumbh.

Rawat said that the question papers of the written examination will be equivalent to the examination for administrative services. The age of the candidate should be between 22 to 27 years, and it is mandatory for the candidate to be a graduate or postgraduate from a top 200 ranked recognised university. "Postgraduate degrees like MBA, PGDM, MCA will be given preference along with graduate or postgraduate degree holders in engineering, law, humanities and social sciences," said Rawat.

Five fellows will be attached to headquarters. The fellows will be in touch with the Mela officer, ADM and SDM for regular review and monitoring of ground activities. Rawat said that Kumbh Fellows will assist the Mela Authority in coordination, management and monitoring for effective implementation of Kumbh Mela.

Developing structures, layouts and mapping as per the needs of infrastructure and planning activities like cleanliness campaigns are included in their scope of work..
