Kumbh alters UP Board exam date in Prayagraj district

Authorities of UP Board have rescheduled the High School and Intermediate exams for Prayagraj district to March 9 due to traffic restrictions from the Maha Kumbh. This change affects only Prayagraj, with other districts maintaining their original schedule. The exams across the state begin on February 24.

PRAYAGRAJ: Authorities of UP Board have amended the date of High School and Intermediate exams scheduled on Feb 24 only for Prayagraj district due to traffic restrictions in place in the city till the last day of Maha Kumbh (Feb 26). The exam for both the classes will now be held on March 9. "The exam schedule of High School and Intermediate of Feb 24 has been revised only for district Prayagraj.

In the remaining districts, the examinations will be conducted as per the schedule," said board secretary Bhagwati Singh. The UP Board exams start on Feb 24 across the state and end on March 12. More than 54.



37 lakh students, including over 27.32 lakh of class 10 and over 27.05 lakh of class 12, will be appearing in the examinations.

On Feb 24, the exam for class 10 was to be held for Elementary Hindi (8:30-11:45 am) and healthcare (2-5:15 pm). The same will now be held on March 9, with the timing remaining unchanged. Likewise, for class 12, the exam for military science (morning shift) and Hindi/General Hindi (second shift) will also be held on March 9, with the shifts remaining the same.

Singh added that in the recently held meeting with chief secretary Manoj Kumar Singh, the district magistrate of Ayodhya and Varanasi, the two districts that are also witnessing heavy rush because of Maha Kumbh, have assured that they prepared separate routes for the students that they can use while appearing in the exams scheduled on Feb 24. "Since the DMs of these two districts have assured that they would do the needful for ensuring that the students reach the exam centre well before time, they have been instructed to disseminate the information to the masses so that the students are aware of the options they have in reaching the exam centre," said Singh.
