From recognizing community helpers to helping community organizations do even more good, the last seven days have seen New Braunfelsers pushing to make the city better than ever. ••••• Kudos to Connections Individual and Family Services for its dedication to serving the community, and congratulations on Wednesday’s ribbon-cutting ceremony for the first phase of Connections’ new campus. It began as a simple idea that the organization could acquire neighboring property near their offices at 1414 W.

San Antonio Street in New Braunfels. CEO Jacob Huereca said the ceremony was extra special for those who fought to make it a reality. “It was $550,000 pitch, and man, did we come prepared,” Huereca said at the ceremony.

“I shared during that pitch and every conversation I’ve had with funders since then that you will be able to drive down San Antonio Street and take a look at this building and say, ‘I was a part of that.’ “Well, that day has arrived. Today is profound and no words can fully encapsulate what a future we are building for our community.

Today is a day to be proud.” ••••• Kudos to Alan and Suzanne Stahlman of Canyon Lake for being recognized as the 2024 New Braunfels New Braunfels Community Foundation Philanthropists of the Year. The Stahlmans follow in the path of 2022 winner Cecil Eager and 2023 recipient Gary Seals and will be honored in mid-November during the NBCF’s annual Champions of Charity Luncheon.

A few of the grant recipients that have benefited from the Stahlmans’ generosity include Connections Individual and Family Services, Chosen Care, CRRC of Canyon Lake, Hope Hospice, 1Hope for Kids Foster Closet, New Braunfels Youth Collaborative, SJRC and Upbring New Life Children’s Center..
