From recognizing community helpers to helping community organizations do even more good, the last seven days have seen New Braunfelsers pushing to make the city better than ever. ••••• Kudos to siblings Alicia Crespo, Gilbert Martinez, Jr., Roland Martinez and Elizabeth Martinez for a combined 101 years of service to the city of New Braunfels.

The quartet was honored on Monday during a brief presentation from City Manager Robert Camareno. In all, there are nine Martinez siblings, and several others decided to work for nearby cities or for Comal County. Their father was the inspiration behind those decisions, as he told his children that a job with a city or county was steady and came with solid benefits.

“The city means everything to us, and it’s because of my dad that we started working with the city of New Braunfels,” Crespo said. “We were all born and raised here in the city of New Braunfels and we take any time that we have the opportunity to give back to our community. .

.. We know where we came from and we’ll always be here for the city of New Braunfels.

They are our heart.” ••••• Kudos to both Any Baby Can (ABC) and Kyngston’s Knights for hosting the 2025 Walk for Autism at Canyon High School on April 5. The event began in New Braunfels in 2019 and is designed to raise money and provide services and support for families raising individuals on the spectrum in recognition of National Autism Awareness Month.

In addition to the walk, there was a resource fair that brought multiple autism, family and healthcare resources from a variety of organizations, businesses and service providers. All proceeds from the walk stay local to fund the critical, one-of-a-kind autism service programs ABC offers to New Braunfels residents..
