KT announced on April 15 that it has successfully completed a Thai-language specialized LLM (Large Language Model) platform development project in collaboration with Thai IT company Jasmine Technology Solutions (JTS). This project marks KT’s first instance of establishing comprehensive AI infrastructure overseas, representing a significant achievement for a Korean company. In March 2023, KT and JTS signed an agreement to jointly develop an integrated platform over approximately one year, which includes an LLM operating environment called ‘LLM Ops,’ AI infrastructure known as 'GPU Farm,' and the development of a dedicated Thai-language LLM model.

‘LLM Ops’ is a platform that manages the processes of training, deploying, and operating various LLM models in an integrated manner. KT customized this system to fit JTS’s work environment, establishing a more efficient and stable operational setting for generative AI. Additionally, KT’s cloud subsidiary, KT Cloud, has set up a GPU Farm in Thailand to support JTS in supplying high-performance AI computational resources to Thai businesses and institutions in the form of 'GPU as a Service (GPUaaS).

' This initiative is expected to lay the groundwork for the expansion of the AI ecosystem in Thailand. KT has also collaborated with domestic LLM startup Upstage to co-develop an LLM optimized for the Thai language. This model not only supports Thai but also English and Korean, providing accurate responses rooted in a deep understanding of Thailand's politics, history, and culture.

This establishes the foundation for offering localized AI services to Thai users. Through this project, KT has secured a successful reference for its global AX (Artificial Intelligence Experience) business. KT and JTS plan to continue collaborating in various fields, including the enhancement of AI platforms, maintenance and expansion of GPU infrastructure, and the discovery of new AI business opportunities, with plans for expansion beyond Thailand into Southeast Asia.

Lee Jin-hyung, Executive Director of AI Business Strategy at KT's Strategy and Business Consulting division, stated, “This project is a significant achievement that demonstrates KT's AI technological capabilities and global partnership execution abilities. In the future, we plan to further expand our lineup of AI and cloud-based service products through strategic collaborations with companies like Microsoft and Palantir.”.
