Lake Shore resident Krista Knudsen, a Republican , will serve a second two-year term in the state House of Representatives after handily defeating her District 5A DFL challenger 18,855 votes (71.34%) to 7,551 votes (28.57%).
Knudsen defeated Brian Hobson, a third grade teacher from Park Rapids, for the second time. Both ran in 2022. ADVERTISEMENT District 5A includes parts of Cass, Hubbard, Wadena and Becker counties.
Knudsen previously served as Lake Shore mayor and city council member. She was elected mayor in 2020 after serving as a council member since 2013, winning four-year council terms in 2012 and 2016. She resigned as mayor in 2022 after being elected to the state House.
Knudsen and her husband have owned and operated Cowboy's Restaurant in Lake Shore for 13 years. They have four children, and protecting children is her biggest motivator. "I believe that government has become too intrusive in the lives of Minnesotans.
