Kris Jenner was left tearful following a harrowing incident at Tristan Thompson's brother Amari's birthday celebration, where the teenager experienced a seizure . This poignant scene unfolded in the most recent installment of The Kardashians . Amari, who suffers from Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS)—a severe form of epilepsy that renders him wheelchair-dependent and in need of constant care—became the center of concern.
Following the passing of Tristan's mother, Andrea in January 2023, the NBA player has taken on the role of Amari's legal guardian. Khloe Kardashian hosted the Kardashians at her residence to honor Amari's 18th birthday, but the event took a scary turn as Kris and Khloe spoke with Amari's dedicated caregivers. While conversing with Noel Rojas and Alba Flores, Amari suffered a seizure, an event which, though not captured on camera, left Kris visibly distraught and in tears at the sight.
Attempting to console her, Khloe assured Kris that Amari frequently endures seizures and has consistently recovered. Reflecting on the day, the birthday party's host stated in a confessional, "Amari will never be a burden or anything like that. Amari is one of the most special souls I have ever met," reports the Mirror .
She also offered insight into why her mother might have been so deeply affected by the seizure, saying: "When you meet someone who's so wonderful, and something so terrible happens to them, you do want to help, you do want to fix it and be there as much as you can. And I think my mom feels the exact same way. She has such a connection to Amari.
" As caregivers rushed to assist the teenager, Kris took a moment to gather herself, wiping away tears. Khloe and MJ checked on her, and Kris confessed that she had never seen one of Amari's seizures before, tearfully admitting, "That was very overwhelming." Khloe acknowledged that while she has often witnessed Amari's seizures, she understands how distressing it can be for those unaccustomed to seeing them.
The reality TV star further explained: "When Amari's having a seizure, I know how to stay calm. I'm around Amari a lot, I've seen a lot of seizures. He has multiple seizures a day, I know what to do in these situations.
But for someone who hasn't been exposed to that, it can be very scary and a very helpless feeling." Once the frightening episode had passed, the Kardashian family resumed their celebration of Amari's special day. Khloe Kardashian took to Instagram with a touching message on the same day the episode was taped in July, celebrating Amari's milestone birthday.
She penned: "Happy 18th Birthday sweet angel Amari! ! I can't believe you are 18! You have changed our lives in the best possible ways! Thank you for being an angel to us all! You are the sweetest, silliest, and most loving young man. I hope you feel how much we love and adore you our sweet angel Amari." Her heartfelt tribute was accompanied by a montage of memories featuring Khloe and Amari over the years, along with adorable footage of her son Tatum giving Amari a peck on the cheek, and a heartfelt snap that captured a moment with Amari and his late mother Andrea.
