KQ out for a month due to ankle injury
(UPDATE) TWO-TIME UAAP MVP Kevin Quiambao is set to miss a month of action due to a torn ankle ligament, Korean media outlet Naver reported on Monday.Quiambao sustained the injury in his debut game for the Goyang Sono Skygunners at the Korean Basketball League (KBL) on Sunday at the Goyang Gymnasium.The La Salle ace incurred the injury at the 7:42 mark of the second quarter where his right foot landed on Seoul SK Knights' Oh Sekuen after attempting a 3-point shot.The 23-year-old did not return to action as Goyang suffered a 57-84 loss to Seoul.Prior to his injury, Quiambao drained two of his five three-point attempts to finish with six points plus one rebound in nearly seven minutes of action.Quiambao and the Skygunners suffered their fifth straight loss and dropped to a 9-20 win-loss card to sit at ninth place in the team standings.With his injury, Quiambao's availability is questionable for Gilas Pilipinas' campaign in the third window of the FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers next month.Gilas will face Taiwan on Feb. 20 and New Zealand on Feb. 23.Already qualified for the Asia Cup in Saudi Arabia in August, Gilas leads the Group B qualifiers standings with an unbeaten 4-0 record.
