Peshawar - Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Gandapur, has taken a significant step to expedite the completion of development projects that are due for completion across various sectors, deciding to release 100% of the required funds for this purpose. He directed the concerned authorities to promptly release Rs. 13 billion to ensure the timely completion of these projects and to remove them from the Annual Development Programme (ADP) by the end of the current fiscal year.
With the release of these funds, 511 key public welfare development projects across the province are expected to be completed by June this year. The Chief Minister emphasized that unnecessary delays in these public welfare projects will not be tolerated and that strict action will be taken against officials responsible for any such delays. He was presiding over a high-level meeting regarding development projects on Tuesday.
The meeting was attended by Advisor to the Chief Minister on Finance, Muzzammil Aslam; Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah; Additional Chief Secretaries Ikramullah and Abid Majeed; and other relevant administrative secretaries. The Chief Minister said that unnecessary delays in development projects result in the wastage of taxpayers’ money, adding that frequent revisions in project costs must also be avoided.
He further said that inquiries will be conducted into repeated cost escalations of development projects. The Chief Minister also decided to immediately launch work on the incumbent provincial government’s flagship projects. As part of this decision, work on 29 different flagship projects will commence soon.
He has directed the release of Rs12 billion within this month for these projects and stated that funds required for the timely completion of development work will be provided on a priority basis.
