Korean Consulate in Vancouver Honors Emergency Rescue Worker of Car Accident

Vancouver, Canada - On December 30th, Jongho Kyun of the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Vancouver invited Robert Penner, a paramedic with BC Emergency Health Services, and Steven Reed, his supervisor, to the consulate to present them with a certificate of appreciation. On July 18th, while on vacation, Robert Penner witnessed a traffic accident on a highway near Golden, BC. At the scene, he supported the emergency helicopter transport of a seriously injured individual with a spinal fracture.

He drove other less severely injured victims to a hospital, 3 hours and 30 minutes away from the accident site, in his vehicle. Consul General Kyun praised Robert Penner, highlighting the dedication and professional spirit he exhibited while on leave, which helped protect the safety and lives of Korean nationals. He expressed gratitude, calling him a true hero of the Korean community in BC, and requested continued interest and support for the safety of Korean citizens and expatriates.
