Among the local residents attending the ceremony. — Photo by Ukas TATAU (Nov 12): The Punan Kakus Youth Club and the Lirung Beleang village security and development committee (JKKK) hosted the Koman No’o ceremony with great enthusiasm on Saturday at the Punan Kakus Community Hall. Deputy Minister of Digital Malaysia and Hulu Rajang Member of Parliament, Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong, attended the event with his wife Datin Leyta Kupa.

In his opening speech, Ugak expressed his appreciation to the Punan Kakus Youth Club and JKKK Lirung Beleang for their invitation. “The Koman No’o ceremony also serves as a platform to strengthen the relationship between leaders and the Punan community in Kakus, Tatau through casual and friendly activities with local residents,” he said in a report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas). Ugak also highlighted the process of hierarchy promotion within the community, from Tuai Rumah to Penghulu, Pemanca, and Temenggung, which depends heavily on the quality of work performed and close cooperation with local leaders.



He urged community leaders to attend meetings and heed the messages delivered by leaders and district officers when they visit their areas. During the session, Ugak announced an allocation of RM50,000 to several Punan community JKKKs – RM20,000 to JKKK Rumah Ado Bilong, RM10,000 to the Punan Kakus Youth Club and RM5,000 each to JKKK Rumah Jayan Kanun, JKKK Rumah Kiah, JKKK Rumah Jeffery Kitop and JKKK Rumah Arjey..
